Recent Projects

Marine Contractors Inc. (MCI) was awarded the Site Preparation Services contract for Emera NL, which commenced in August 2014 and concluded in November 2018, with a final project cost of $25,600,000.00 (plus HST), coming in under budget. The scope of the contract included the development of roadways for transmission line routes and associated project sites, as well as the upgrading of existing roads. Additionally, MCI was responsible for grading and leveling work for switch yards, grounding sites, transition compounds, and laydown areas. The project also involved the installation of foundations, conduits, trenches, and fences at grounding sites and transition compound locations.

The majority of the work was concentrated in South, Western, and Central Newfoundland, with many sites being remote and requiring our teams to operate across multiple locations. MCI maintained its usual high level of construction-season efficiency while scaling up the necessary resources and workforce to meet the project demands. This included the purchase of new equipment and the hiring of additional staff to successfully execute this complex and expansive project.
