The DFO and Land Resources office is a 35,000-square-foot building on Wheelers Road in Corner Brook. The building boasts a modern design, with a functional interior to service the DFO and Land Resources employees. The design features wrap-around windows on two levels, with available cubicles and office spaces in the center of the building. The windows provide natural light to optimize the user’s experience and improve employee morale. The building construction was designed and built with sustainability in mind. The building hosts heating, cooling, and lighting systems that are proven for function, easy operation and maintenance, using energy-efficient equipment such as air-source heat pump HVAC systems, natural lighting where possible, and energy star-rated appliances. The building provides an environment of inspiring workplace, improved employee satisfaction and enhanced space utilization ratios. GDR Enterprises worked diligently with its counterparts, consultants and the owner to deliver a product that exceeded the needs of its end user. GDR Enterprises leveraged the services of Powers Brown Architecture and Mike Gorman Engineering along with its internal resources for site development and construction. Services rendered included architectural and engineering design services through design development, construction, administration and commissioning. The project was completed in 2019 and is now leased by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, functioning as its intended purpose of office space.
